In Sebastopol, excavations were launched to find the military victims of a conflict which, between 1853 and 1856, had mobilized nearly two million combatants.
Among the victims: more than 95,000 French soldiers.
On October 3, 155 of them were finally able to be buried
with dignity by the Russian authorities.
