THE LAST DINNER WITH STALIN

Le Figaro managed to visit the dacha where the Father of the Nations lived for nineteen years. He died on March 5, 1953, under rather mysterious circumstances, after a meal with four leading members of the Politburo, including the formidable Beria, each of whom yearned for his succession.

The cottage doors open only to a few privileged visitors. In this case, the chance, which France Télévisions also took advantage of, was provided by the Foundation of the Development of Russian-French Historical Initiatives, headed by the Frenchman Pierre Malinowski, and whose vice-president, Elizaveta Peskova, is the daughter of a Kremlin press secretary.
