Funeral ceremony for General Gudin at Les Invalides on December 2, 2021
On December 2, 2021, more than three years after the start of the search expedition, the national funeral for General Gudin took place at Les Invalids. The general was buried next to the Emperor Napoleon two centuries after his death in August 1812 in Smolensk.

The commemorative ceremony was led by the Minister-Delegate to the Minister of Defense of France, Géneviève Darrieussecq, in the presence of the Chief of the General Staff of the French Armed Forces, General Thierry Burkhard and other persons.

This Historic Day will remain the most important event for Franco-Russian relations. Finally, General Gudin rests in the sacred temple of the Heroes who died for France. Pierre Malinowski and Elizaveta Peskova attended this touching ceremony. Rest in peace, my General!
