An expert group led by the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences has implemented the first Franco-Russian project since 2021. The project is organized and financed by our Foundation and is dedicated to the Battle of Maloyaroslavets, which became the turning point of the Russian campaign and the beginning of Napoleon's Great Retreat in October 1812. On October 23, 1812, more than 12,000 Russians, French and Italians died in this fierce battle.
